Bristol Medical Imaging

Our doctors provide swift and reliable private MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and X-ray scans in Bristol, South-West England. Established in 2008, we are a partnership of five highly experienced Consultant Radiologists with a wide range of medical imaging expertise, such as:

Gynaecology, including endometriosis and mesh complications
Gastrointestinal, including pancreas
Hepatobiliary (liver, gallbladder)
Urology, including prostate
Cardiovascular
Renal (kidney)
Chest

Please firstly discuss having a private scan with your own General Practitioner (GP) doctor or specialist medical doctor. They then need to refer you to us. Subsequently, if you have any medical queries, including which diagnostic imaging technique is most suitable, one of our Consultants will be happy to discuss your queries with you directly.

Once your doctor has referred you to us, your scan will be read and reported only by one of our five Consultant Radiologists at Spire and/or Nuffield Hospitals in Bristol. Our five doctors perform their private practice work there but are independent of these hospitals. The cost of your scan is set by your chosen hospital. Your scan can be self-funded or covered by your medical insurance provider.

We do not provide neurological imaging (CT or MRI of the head) and MRI of the breast. Whilst we read and report plain film musculoskeletal X-rays (such as the spine, shoulder, and knee), we do not provide musculoskeletal CT or MRI imaging.

CT scan

Computerised tomography uses X-rays to produce high-resolution two-dimensional or three-dimensional images.

MRI scan

Magnetic Resonance Imaging uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce high-resolution three-dimensional images.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound uses high frequency sound beyond the range of human hearing to produce real-time two-dimensional moving images.

X-ray

Plain film X-rays are used to produce two-dimensional images, used mainly for straightforward diagnoses.
